Welcome to the start of educational excellence at DATA, the Design and Technology Academy! Our goal is to make the application and enrollment process as simple and supportive as possible, so the admissions team is here to assist. Our magnet school program is an open-enrollment campus that's available to high school students across San Antonio, regardless of school district boundaries. As students take the first steps on the path to developing the necessary skills in technology and design, DATA is committed to the potential of every student, helping them grow into the innovative leaders of tomorrow.
Our Admission Requirements
To apply for admission to DATA, students must submit an application during the open enrollment period along with supporting documents. Applications are reviewed for eligibility based on these admissions criteria, then entered into our magnet school lottery system. We encourage all students who meet the criteria to apply as soon as possible as seats are limited.

DATA Magnet Application Process
Step Two: Submit Required Documents to DATA
Required Documents
- Required documents include:
- Current report card
- Standardized test scores
- Attendance and behavioral records
- Items such as a supporting video or essays are welcome, but completely optional
2024-25 Magnet Application Timeline
Each magnet has an application on their website. Students must meet minimum requirements to be considered for enrollment, with requirements varying by magnet school program. If there are more qualified students than seats available in a magnet, students may be selected by lottery.
- Applications Open: October 1, 2024
- Lottery Application Deadline: January 20th, 2025 at 11:59 PM
- Acceptance Notifications: February 3rd, 2025
- Deadline to Accept: February 14th, 2025
- Open Enrollment Deadline: July 31, 2025
Step One: Complete the NEISD Magnet Common Application
Enrollment Requirements
1. Students residing in NEISD must have an overall minimum average of 85 in academic courses.
2. Students residing outside NEISD must have an overall minimum average of 90 in academic courses.
3. Students must be in good standing regarding attendance and behavior, and maintain Student Code of Conduct expectations.
PLEASE NOTE: If enrollment request exceeds the number of students allowed to be in the program, a lottery will be held to select students for next year’s class.
